Alliance for Justice Foundation Advocacy Initiative


Through its Foundation Advocacy Initiative, the Alliance for Justice, a national association of public interest organizations, seeks to increase foundation support to organizations that seek to influence policy and public opinion.
Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers The Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers was established in 1980 as a national coalition of nonprofit organizations sharing an vested interest in nonprofit postal policy. The Alliance is the primary representative of nonprofit mailers before the Postal Rate Commission, at the United States Postal Service's (USPS) Headquarters, and on Capitol Hill.
ARNOVA: The Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action ARNOVA is an international, interdisciplinary network of scholars and nonprofit leaders fostering the creation, application and dissemination of research on voluntary action, nonprofit organizations, philanthropy and civil society. Founded in 1971 as the Association of Voluntary Action Scholars, it is a neutral, open forum committed to strengthening the research community in the emerging field of nonprofit and philanthropic studies.
The Brookings Institution In its research, The Brookings Institution functions as an independent analyst and critic, committed to publishing its findings for the information of the public. In its conferences and activities, it serves as a bridge between scholarship and public policy, bringing new knowledge to the attention of decisionmakers and affording scholars a better insight into public policy issues.
Capital Research Center Capital Research Center specializes in analyzing and reporting on those organizations that with tax-exempt, tax-deductible--and sometimes tax dollars--mix advocacy and "direct action" to promote their own vision of the public interest. Each year, Capital Research services hundreds of research requests from grantmakers, scholars, trade associations, business executives, and legislators.
Council on Foundations The Council on Foundations works to support foundations by promoting knowledge, growth and action in philanthropy.
Civicus: World Alliance for Citizen Participation CIVICUS' special purpose is to help nurture the foundation, growth, protection and resourcing of citizen action throughout the world, especially in areas where participatory democracy, freedom of association of citizens, and their funds for public benefit are threatened.
International Society for Third-Sector Research--ISTR ISTR is a major international association promoting research and education in the fields of philanthropy, civil society and the nonprofit sector. Reflecting the growing worldwide interest in Third Sector research, it provides a permanent forum for international research, while at the same time building a global scholarly community in this field.
National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy NCRP's mission is to make philanthropy more responsive to people with the least wealth and opportunity, more relevant to critical public needs, and more open and accountable to all, in order to create a more just and democratic society. This mission is achieved through:
1.Promoting a new vision of philanthropy;
2. Critiquing and reforming philanthropy;
3.Developing and shaping new philanthropic resources and institutions;
4.Promoting progressive policy and advocacy by nonprofits and foundations; and
5.Building a movement for a "new philanthropy."
National Federation of Nonprofits The National Federation of Nonprofits (NFN) gives voice to nonprofits that want to be active on issues involving state and federal regulators, charity watchdogs, the Postal Service, standards-setting groups such as the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). The NFN also serves as a knowledgeable advocate before Congress and a link to other organizations dealing with related issues.
New York Nonprofit Coordinating Committee  
Oneworld.Net Oneworld.net is an internet community of 613 organizations leading the way for human rights and sustainable development worldwide. The goal of the One World Broadcasting Trust is to publish information about global issues at low cost for development NGOs through the creation of World Wide Web sites on the Internet. Includes information on world-wide action campaigns and links to partner organizations.
The Society for Nonprofit Organizations SNO's mission is to serve as a resource for Board members, paid staff, andvolunteers who lead or help nonprofit organizations all around the world.We do so by publishing a bi-monthly magazine on relevant nonprofit issues and a monthly report on funding opportunities for nonprofits. Most recently, we created The Learning Institute For Nonprofit Organizations, the premier provider of satellite-based education for the nonprofit sector.
